In late 2007, the S&P500 crossed above pre-dynamic bearish highs from 2000's peak levels. Following that crossing, another stock market bear emerged. You can also see that the S&P500 still has quite a bit to go before crossing above the 2007 peak.

The NASDAQ is doing the same. It crossed above pre-2007-2008 pre-crash highs in 2011. Each crossing was obviously discomforting.
